A standard course-evaluation form is distributed at the conclusion of all courses I teach. Naturally, the comments are annonymous and the only thing I can cite is the date and place of the training course. The course ratings shown on an earlier page summarize the numeric rating, but participants readily share their comments as well. I am pleased to say the overwhelming majority are enthusiastic and feel my courses were well worth their time. Note that the Gettysburg and Fort Stanwix classes were two-day sessions; the one in Seattle was a three-day session with added emphasis on skills. Here is just a sampling of what recent participants said, including a couple of criticisms:
***** Well worth the time, Art did a great job in teaching ... As a new Chief of Maintenance, these skills will help me tremendously. --- Gettysburg NMP, March 18, 2009
**** I've had great teacher and coaches in my life, but my 1st NPS supervisor was a nice guy, but I wish he had taken this class. My staff deserves better than what I got. Thank you for sharing your skill and insight! --- Seattle / North Coast Cascades Network, April 20, 2010
***** (On the best thing about the course...) Art Eck -- very informative, refreshing, understanding the art of supervision. ... Have much better understanding of how to deal with problems and people. --- Fort Stanwix NM, September 16, 2009
***** I hope to grow as an effective leader/supervisor and this course covered beneficial material. ... Thank you, Art. It was an excellent opportunity and I'm grateful for your dedication to engaging leaders in the Park Service. --- Seattle / North Coast Cascades Network, April 20, 2010
***** (Need to) Cover additional material if possible, 1 or 2 days more? (It's that good!) --- Gettysburg NMP, March 18, 2009
**** (On improving the course:) More case studies; could use as role-playing by participants. --- Gettysburg NMP, March 18, 2009
***** (On improving the course:) More hands on -- not just sitting and listening. --- Fort Stanwix NM, September 16, 2009
