 | INTRODUCTION TO SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP II: As part of the basic Park Leadership Classes that Art Eck offers, an INTRODUCTION TO SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP II® is provided. Situational Leadership® II (SLII®) is the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and practical method of effectively managing and developing people, time, and resources in the world. Developed and distributed by the Ken Blanchard Companies, SLII® provides leaders with a model and the tools for creating open communication and developing self-reliance in those they manage. It is designed to increase the frequency and quality of conversations about performance and development. As a result, competence is developed, commitment is gained, and talented individuals are retained. Note that the SLII Introduction taught by Art Eck is not the one- or two-day SLII program developed and offered by the Ken Blanchard Companies.

SLII® has been used by the National Park Service since the mid-1980s as its standard of training in preparing supervisors and managers for the responsibility of leading people. The courses offered here included the four-hour Introduction to Situational Leadership II that Art Eck believes helps leaders communicate with a shared language of leadership based on the NPS standard. Art has designed his training classes to fit the unique organizational culture of the National Park Service and similar highly motivated park organizations at the state and local levels. Anyone who has worked with parks knows they have a unique mission that attracts extremely dedicated employees -- resulting in organizations with very different needs than those envisioned in traditional training programs. Art teaches from first-hand experience as a park supervisor and manager for over 24 years. He has been a certified NPS Situational Leadership instructor since 1986, and has shared this training with over 3000 national and state park employees. |
