| | Leadership Skills for Park Personnel | | This two-day class (16-hour) class provides a solid grounding in supervisory and management skills for park personnel, regardless of whether they're leading informal teams of volunteers or serving as park superintendents. No matter what the experience level or background of the park leader is, this course is designed to help them organize and maximize what they already know and prime their readiness to advance to higher level of leadership effectiveness. The course focuses on what folks really need to know and do to be successful managers and supervisors in park organizations. This intentional design is what leads Art Eck's classes to receive enthusiastic endorsements from class participants -- they actually feel they learned something useful and they willingly recommend it for others. | | Course content: Participants consider the impact of leadership in the context of park culture and organizations; receive an Introduction to Situational Leadership II®, developed and distributed by the Ken Blanchard Companies, to gain an understanding of differing leadership styles and discover their own leadership tendencies; discuss strategies for motivation in an under-funded work environment; utilizing work plans and performance standards to achieve results; time-management strategies that include e-mail and ever-shorter deadlines; and succesfully managing performance problems. Despite a full agenda, Art Eck is sufficiently experienced with the material to adjust the flow of the course and allow participants to share and explore their own interests and concerns, adding a liveliness and level of engagement not always found in other classes. | | There are opportunities to adjust emphasis and course content to help achieve specific objectives for different park organizations, based on advanced consultation with clients. | Add your content here | |
