 Leadership Style Flexibility // Participant Workbook Pages 15 – 21

The purpose of these exercises is to acquaint you and then reinforce your perception of DIRECTIVE AND SUPPORTIVE styles of leadership behaviors.

 

There are three case studies provided, beginning with Situation 1 on page 15. Read through the situation and use the column on the left in your workbook to note when the manager (boss) makes a directive (D) or supportive (S) comment. Recall the characteristics of Directive and Supportive behaviors to identify the type of comment the manager is making (if you’ve forgotten, refer back to page 13 in your workbook). Answer the questions at the end of the situation as well.

 

When you’ve finished situation 1 click below to compare your responses with those identified in the instructor’s manual. Then go onto Situation 2 on page 17 and so on. We usually do Situation 3 in class, but just in case, the answers for that one are provided below as well.
